Pergam Achieved Top Result in the FluxLab Winter 2026 Methane Detection Campaign
Independent winter tests demonstrated Pergam’s leading methane leak localization performance
Pergam became the top-performing participant in the international SIMFLEX Winter 2026 testing campaign organized in Canada by Fluxlab research group. During the campaign, participants carried out methane leak detection and localization under challenging winter conditions, including low temperatures, snow cover, and unstable weather.
Testing was conducted using controlled methane releases with predefined emission rates and locations. During the campaign, participants received no ground truth data and had to detect and localize emission sources using their own measurement systems.
Pergam outperformed all other participants
It achieved a 90% POD-MDL of 4.7 kg/h, the best result among all SIMFLEX Winter 2026 vendors.
According to the campaign organizers, Pergam missed only two leak sources at low emission rates of approximately 4–5 kg/h. The researchers also noted that Pergam’s result was significantly better than that of the closest participant, who achieved a 7.5 kg/h. The campaign organizers also expressed interest in Pergam’s approach and discussed the possibility of including the company’s results in a publication on the effectiveness of drone-based methane detection.

The System Behind the Success
Laser Falcon Plus remote methane detector
Laser Falcon Plus is an ultra-lightweight UAV-mounted laser methane detector based on TDLAS technology. Its compact design and low weight make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including aerial methane monitoring at distances of up to 80 meters. The device can be mounted on a wide range of drones. It is equipped with the SkyHub module from SPH Engineering, providing advanced data acquisition and processing capabilities.

The Winter SIMFLEX 2026 campaign was conducted in Canada by FluxLab, a research group at St. Francis Xavier University. FluxLab specializes in methane emissions research, controlled-release experiments, and the validation of methane detection technologies for environmental monitoring and regulatory applications. One of the group’s flagship projects is SIMFLEX (Simulation Facility for Landfill Emission Experiments), a dedicated controlled-release testing facility created to evaluate methane detection and localization systems under realistic operating conditions. The SIMFLEX campaigns are designed to provide an independent assessment of the performance and reliability of drone-based and remote methane monitoring technologies.
